Winner of the club championship in 1898.

Unfortunately F H Miles is one of the Hastings champions whom I know very little about. He seems to have played chess in the area from about 1897 to about 1902 and was a strong player. If you look at his game against the Sussex cricketer (and Hastings CC member) E J McCormick, you will note the brilliant queen sacrifice. I also enclose a correspondence game that he played for the North against the South. Miles' Christian names are a mystery to me and I cannot recall seeing anything about his play outside his period in Sussex.
